About This Location

The Worthington Farm Covered Bridge, a truly unique and charming structure, stands as a testament to the marriage of 19th-century craftsmanship and 21st-century versatility. Built in 2002 by Ron Ouelette, this covered bridge showcases the fusion of traditional building techniques with modern upgrades, making it a remarkable venue in Somers, Connecticut.

Spanning an impressive 61 feet across a picturesque pond, the Worthington Farm Covered Bridge is a vibrant yellow structure crowned with a striking green metal roof. It's not just a bridge; it's a versatile event space equipped with lighting, electricity, a dance floor, tables, chairs, and even a stage for live music. Should the weather turn chilly during events held in the cooler months of April or October, heaters are on hand to keep guests warm and comfortable.

Worthington Pond Farm, established in 2000, has transformed from a neglected turkey farm into a pristine private park. The farm offers a serene backdrop for various recreational activities, day camp programs, and occasional private events. The property boasts more than 20 meticulously maintained gardens featuring an array of day lilies, hydrangeas, hibiscus, and countless other flowers.

The covered bridge, along with the warming house and sugar shack, was constructed using wood harvested from the property, creating a warm and rustic atmosphere that welcomes visitors. In 2002, when the bridge was built, it was always envisioned as a unique venue. Over the years, the property changed hands, and it is now part of the Worthington Vineyards and Winery, known for producing high-quality wines.

While the winery's tasting room operates during specific business hours, the picnic grounds and gardens are usually open for general recreational use from dawn to dusk. The gardens bloom with vibrant colors throughout the year, offering visitors a visual feast from spring through fall. Thousands of day lilies encircle the ponds, adding to the scenic beauty of the surroundings.

Today, the Worthington Farm Covered Bridge is used for various vineyard events and continues to serve as a captivating event space for weddings and other gatherings. It stands as Connecticut's only covered bridge event space, constructed with rustic hewn beams that exude a distinctive charm. The soothing sound of flowing water beneath adds a natural soundtrack to any occasion held within.

With the capacity to accommodate up to 125 guests, the Worthington Farm Covered Bridge is spacious enough for comfortable seated meals, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the festivities. Whether it's a wedding, a special celebration, or simply a visit to the vineyard, this covered bridge provides a one-of-a-kind setting that captures the essence of rustic elegance.

Visiting the Worthington Farm Covered Bridge is a delightful experience, as the vineyard generously allows public access to its beautiful grounds from dawn until dusk. It's a place where nature's beauty combines with architectural charm to create a truly enchanting atmosphere.
